Hi! Im kinda new to the alternative energy community and was thinking about getting a wind generator to put up at my cabin. I would like to power a few lights and a CB radio. I was hoping some of you guys could give me some suggestions on how I could go about doing this. Im assuming i would need a couple batteries that the wind generator would charge. The wind blows pretty constant up there, about 10 to 15mph. Thanks!
What you would like to do shouldn't be a problem. Yes, you will need a couple 12 volt batteries snd some LED lights. I'm guessing that your CB radio is also 12vdc. It sounds like you have good wind for charging and if it is mostly above 10 mph, then the dc-520 would be the better choice for a generator.
I currently have a 24V wind Generator system. I need something to work in conjunction with what I currently have. My batteries will not charge with a wind speed under 20mph. Will the DC-540 support a 24V system and is there a Max Wind speed/RPM Speed that I should worry about. Normal wins velocities are 6 to 15 mph, going into winter they will average 20 - 30 mph for several days.
